Chain Saw Carving
This cabin on lake fourteen,  was built by C.C.C. crews in the 1930s.
This project was undertaken in 2008.
Notice the log ends (nubs) on the far right corner.

Concrete is too often used to repair or hide decayed logs

with the concrete removed, the true condition of the wall is revealed.

Full replacement of the bottom log, and several nubs replaced.

cement behind trash can covers two logs

decay is evident over the bottom two logs, but the third log is also rotten from the inside.

All the log ends have been cut off, presumably due to decay. not really visible in the photo but to the right of the chimney there are three logs near the top that need repair.

The nubs have been replaced on this corner, and the bottom log repaired.

Repairs made near chimney and on kitchen corner.

After cob blasting, the old and new start to come alot closer.

The walnut WR5 stain completes the old and new blending.
